Skin Care: My Experience with Micro Needling

So I read up about micro needling and seen some reviews and decided to give it a try! Here is some information on it and my review on micro needling after 4 weeks of doing it.

What is Micro Needling?

Micro needling is using a range of tiny needles that you can buy in a variety of sizes to open the pores and penetrate with damaging the outer layer of your skin. They open up these pores which the skin then interprets as a form of ‘damage’ and responds by initiating the production of collagen and elastin.

I used a derma roller for this process. The barrel holds 192 micro needles. Derma roller comes with a variety of needle sizes which range from a tiny 0.2 mm to the largest 3 mm. The 0.2 mm needle is used purely to open up the pores of the skin for the application of a skin care product. I used a 0.5 mm roller (pictured above).

But the difference between the skin’s normal healing process and that triggered by dermaroller is that the treatment is repeated over time which helps to continue this healing process which means firm, young looking skin.

Collagen and elastin are responsible for the growth of new skin and it is this new skin which repairs any damage caused by acne scars, stretch marks, cellutlite, surgical scars etc. It also removes the signs of ageing, e.g. lines and wrinkles.

These results are further boosted by the addition of a vitamin enriched skin cream/lotion/gel which is applied to the skin after treatment. A further boost comes in the form of a moisturising cream which helps to lubricate the skin.

You should do this every 4-6 weeks until you have accomplished what you aimed to accomplish.

How did Mico Needling work for me?

It is a painful process as expected by rolling needles across your face, but it is not too painful. The aim of doing micro needling was to remove scaring on my skin and to have healthy and better looking skin. After a few weeks I noticed a difference to my skin. It was smoother and I noticed scaring and blemishes on my face lightened and some even went (I noticed this after 4 weeks).

This is something I plan on continuing. I can not guarantee that it will work for everyone, although I do not see why it wouldn’t, but it definitely worked for me.

If you plan on giving micro needling I do recommend that you do your some own research and do a test patch aswell!

I purchased my derma roller from Ebay for £9.99!

Hope this was useful!
